Best Time to Trek Everest Base Camp

Trekking in Spring

In Nepal, the season of spring will begin from March and ends in May. These months are taken as the most crowded months to trek in the Himalayas or in the Khumbu region of a country. Most of the trekkers from various parts of the world plan to make their trip to Everest during this time.

Detailed Itinerary – 7 Day Everest Base Camp Trek

In the following, we have explained about the brief and detailed itinerary for the seven days trek to the region of Mount Everest base camp. 

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu and Drop off at Hotel

ON the starting day, you will arrive in Kathmandu the capital city of Nepal at Tribhuvan International Airport at an altitude of 1400m above sea level. When you reach the terminal of TIA our guide or any of the officers will be waiting outside. They will show your name card or agency name which you booked before.

Now you will be picked up by our travel officer personnel. They will help you check-in to your room in the hotel. Then you can freshen up and rest in your room. You can enjoy your time in the evening by roaming around in the local market. 

In the evening you will briefly explain the trek for 7 days in the base camp of Everest. We recommend you to sleep as soon as possible to catch an early flight for the next day to Lukla.

Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Namche Bazaar

On the second day, Wake up as early as you need to catch a flight to Lukla. You will be flying from Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport). It takes up to 35 minutes of flight while flying from Kathmandu. It will cover a distance of 136.17 km.

One of the wonderful things about the flight is that you can witness the beautiful landscape valley and forest with massive peaks of the highest mountain if the weather looks clear at the time of flight. It will lead towards the Khumbu region and will make a landing at one of the iconic airports of Lukla.

Lukla is also known for the most thrilling airport that will have a narrow runway. If you also want an adventure and thrilling then landing at the airport will be as you just expected. The elevation of this destination will lie at the 2860m above sea level. 

The area of Namche Bazaar to this region will cover a distance of 13.5km after arriving at the Lukla airport and heading towards this region.

In this region, you will be passing through small villages such as Monjo, Phakding, and many others. As you go higher then you get the views of snow peak Himalayas such as Lhoste, Ama Dablam, Pumori, etc. while walking throughout the trail.

It will take at least about 6 to 7 hours and day to reach the destination of Namche Bazaar at an elevation of 3440 m above sea level. 

Namche Bazaar is the most important trading hub for the people in the region of Khumbu in Nepal. Most of the trekkers form the country and outside country called this region a gateway to Mount Everest. This town will offer guests a store for tools, cafes, and restaurants with WIFI available in this destination.

You have to stay your night at this destination for tomorrow’s walk.

Day 3: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

On the third day of your trip, after having your good breakfast you will head towards the region of Tengboche. The total distance between Tengboche and Namche Bazaar is about 10.4 km. Trekking to Tengboche will take almost 4 to 5 hours after waking from Namche Bazaar. 

The trek to this region will begin by walking uphill through the forests filled with rhododendron and colorful forests of pine trees, etc. The most wonderful views of the majestic Himalayas such as Pumori, Lhoste, Nuptse will make your trip more adventurous. By enjoying the Nature you will be in Tengboche. 

This is also a small village located at the elevation of 3870m above sea level. This destination is also famous for the Buddhists pilgrims and many more. You can even get to witness one of the historical old Buddhists Monasteries here called Tengboche Monastery. 

Moreover, learn about the tradition, culture of this village in Tengboche. You have to stay overnight here for another rest day. 

Day 4: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche

On the fourth day of the trek, You need to move towards the Dingboche. The total distance between these two regions of Dingboche and Tengboche is about 12 km. The spectacular views of the Himalayas from Tengboche during the Early mornings can be seen here. 

The total walking hours will take up to 5 to 6 hours to reach the destination of Dingboche. You should walk towards the north from the destination of Tengboche to cross the Dudh Koshi River with the help of a long made suspension bridge. 

This will lead travelers towards the lush dense green forests. This will take you to the rugged paths and the Imja Khola during trekking in trails. As you go further to this region then the path leads trekkers to mani walls and small settlements.

On the way to this region, you can even see many of the Himalayas peaks such as Kongmatse, Tawache, Ama Dablam etc. After watching the glorious mountain you will reach the area at Dingboche.

The region of Dingboche is situated at an elevation of 4350m above sea level. This is the gateway to the village of Chukung. This village seems to be surrounded or bounded by the stone walls to protect the harvest of villagers. Overnight stay at Dingboche. 

 

Day 5: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

On the fifth day of the trek, you will be heading towards the Lobuche which will take travelers 6 to 7 hours of walking from Dingboche. The total distance between the region of Dingboche and Lobuche is around 9 km.

The journey to this region will begin by taking a downhill path to the village of Pherichethen you have to trek a bit further and ascend through the route. Trekking throughout the route you will get a chance to see the mesmerizing view of Tawache, Mount Pokalde, Nuptse etc.

As you move throughout the trail you reach the region of Lobuche that lies at an altitude of 4920m above sea level. There you will definitely see a glowing and astounding view of Khumbu Glaciers. You need to spend this night in this region of Lobuche.

Day 6: Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp then return to Gorak Shep and Fly back to Lukla via Helicopter

This will be the most important day for the trekker after 5 days of the trek. This is the place you are almost waiting for. The total distance between the Everest base camp and Lobuche is about 3.5 km. It lies at the elevation of 5364m above sea level. 

You will be 2walking throughout the many moraines and streams to reach the destination of Mount Everest base camp. When you reach this destination you will have the most valuable time to see the majestic Mount Everest right in front of you.

This is the most overwhelming moment of every trekker as they reach the base camp of Everest. You can even get to see the icefalls, Khumbu glaciers in this region. And other various important neighboring Himalayas from this region.

After having a good moment here in base camp you need to return to Gorak Shep. After this, you will have a helicopter flight from here to Lukla.

Day 7: Fly back to Kathmandu

On the last day of the seventh day, you will be flying back to Kathmandu and say goodbye to the home of a beautiful mountain. When you arrive at the Airport you will be dropped off at the hotel for fresh air.
