This tour takes you to the base of Mount Everest and into the cultural melodrama that engulfs the quiet corners of Lhasa. The tour takes 8 days to complete with you starting your journey at Kathmandu. From there, you head to Rasuwa at the Nepal-Tibet border and enter Tibet via Gyirong after showing all the necessary documents. You then head to Old Tingri, which is the nearest settlement area before the Everest Base Camp. Along the way, be sure to admire the Paiku Tsho Lake and go across the Lalung Pass. The road to Everest Base Camp goes along the Geu La pass and from the base camp, you get to see amazing views of the north face of Everest. En route, you also see panoramic views of the neighboring peaks like Makalu and Cho Oyu at the Geu La Pass. After completing the first leg of the tour, you head to Lhasa via Shigatse. At Shigatse, you visit famous monasteries like Tashilunpo Monastery, Sakya Monastery, and Palcho Monastery. To arrive at Lhasa, you must cross the Kamba La pass. The road provides amazing scenery of the Yamdrok Tsho Lake that stands out in the desolate terrain as a turquoise oasis of life. At Lhasa, you take 2 days to explore the cultural city. In the first day, you visit some of the famous tourist areas like the holy Potala Palace, Tibet Museum and Drepung Monastery. The second day you continue the tour and visit Sera Monastery, Norbulingka and end the last day at Tibet by visiting Tibet Tianhai Night Market. Throughout the trip, you are exposed to the unique Tibetan cultures and cuisines, so be mindful of the dos and don’ts. The best time to take this tour is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-December). In Tibet, the weather can sometimes get unpredictable so it is advised to carry jackets or warm clothes at all times.
