A Detail Itinerary For Everest Base Camp Trek

Day 01: Kathmandu (1,300m)

You may arrive in Kathmandu at any time. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by one of our airport representatives. He will help you get transferred to your Hotel in the city. There are no planned activities for the day, thus you can check into your Hotel and relax. Overnight stay at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu – Lukla (2,840m) – Phakding (2,610m)

Early in the morning, you will be taken to the airport for your short flight to Lukla. The 45-minute flight to Lukla is one of the highlights of the journey as well, as you can see many Himalayan peaks from the plane as you approach Lukla- the starting point of the EBC Trek. As you land in Lukla, you can immediately sense the difference in the air; the Himalayan breeze and the ambiance are different from that of the bustling capital. From Lukla, you will begin your trek to Phakding, which is situated about 7 kilometers north from Lukla. It takes about 3 to 4 hours of hiking through the wonderful rhododendron-laden path to reach Phakding. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Phakding, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 03: Phakding (2,610m) – Namche Bazaar (3,440m), Distance- 10 to 12 kilometers, Duration: 6 hours

From Phakding, you will begin your journey to the famous Himalayan town of Namche Bazaar today. Along the way, you will pass by several small settlements as well, like Tok-Tok, Benkar, Monjo, and Jorsale among others. The journey traverses along the Dudh Koshi River and crosses several suspension bridges to finally reach Namche Bazaar. The path also enters the Sagarmatha National Park, whose entrance lies at Monjo. The trek is a steady up-and-downhill journey that passes through the alpine woodlands of the valley. All the while, views of mountain peaks like the Kusum Kangraru and the Everest decorate the skyline. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Namche Bazaar, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 04: Namche Bazaar (3,440m) Acclimatization

This day is reserved for acclimatization. You will spend the day at Namche Bazaar exploring the city and visiting its many wonderful attractions. Namche hosts the Sherpa Culture Museum and the Everest Photo Gallery. Besides, you can also choose to trek to the Syangboche airstrip which is situated just above the town. From Syangboche, you can see the panorama of the sprawling Namche town below along with the view of mountain peaks like the Thamserku and the Kongde Ri. You can also enjoy a visit to the Everest View Hotel, which, as the name suggests, boasts views of Everest peaks from all of its windows. Day 05: Namche Bazaar (3,440m) – Debuche (3,820m)

Today, you will be making your way towards the settlement of Tengboche to reach the final destination of the day- Debuche. The trail from Namche to Tengboche is relatively long but well-trodden. Walking downhill on relatively flat land, you will be making your way through settlements like Syangboche and the Kyangjuma. Along the journey, you can see gorgeous views of mountain peaks like the Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Everest looming on the horizon. The trail gradually then stretches steeply towards Phunki Thanka. A short distance further lies Tengboche- the spiritual hub of the Khumbu. Here, you can visit the Tengboche Monastery- the largest Buddhist monastery in the region. Debuche is situated a further 30 minutes away from Tengboche. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Debuche, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 06: Debuche (3,820m) – Dingboche (4,410m)

From Debuche, you will begin your journey to Dingboche today, meandering along the woodlands and pastures of the Khumbu valley. Crossing the suspension bridge over the Imja Khola, you will follow the trail to Pangboche- a small village with many Mani Stones. Further along from Pangboche, you will reach a crossing and then the Dingboche village. The views of peaks like the Ama Dablam, the Island peak and Lhotse from Dingboche are quite amazing. Day 07: Dingboche Ri (5,075m)

This is another day reserved for acclimatization. At Dingboche, you can spend the day hiking up to Dingboche RI. The hike is a bit strenuous, but the climb is worth the effort because the panoramic view of the entire Khumbu valley from the vantage point is quite marvelous. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Dingboche, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

 

Day 08: Dingboche (4,410m) – Lobuche (4,920m)

From Dingboche, you will be crossing the settlement of Thukla to reach Pheriche. The trek gets a little difficult after this point. Past Pheriche, the trekking trail reaches a small oblique called Chupki Lhara. From here, the path tends to drop down towards the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier. As you walk along the path to Lobuche, you will be greeted by magnificent views of peaks like the Khumbutse, the Mahalangur Himal, the Lingtren and the Pumori among others. Day 09: Lobuche (4,920m) – Kalapatthar (5,545m) – Gorakshep (5,140m)

From Lobuche, you will be trekking to the famous vantage point of Kalapatthar today. The trek to the vantage point is done early in the morning so you can witness the magical moment the sun rises amidst the Everest peaks. The phenomenon is quite thrilling and one that is quite unforgettable. The entire panorama of the Everest massif from Kalapatthar is also breath-taking. After enjoying your time at Kalapatthar, you will then trek to Gorakshep. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Gorakshep, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

 

Day 10: Gorakshep (5,140m) – Everest Base Camp (5,364m) – Lobuche (4,920m)

This is one of the most anticipated days of the entire trek! You will make your way towards the Everest Base Camp today, trudging your way through vast snowy fields. At the base camp, you can take in the view of the Khumbu Icefall and the glacier. The Everest Base Camp is the starting point from where the Everest expedition starts. After enjoying your time at the base camp, you will then return to Gorakshep and then proceed to Lobuche, following the same path as before. Day 11: Lobuche (4,920m) – Pangboche (3,860m)

From Lobuche, you will follow the same path you used for your ascend to reach Pangboche, crossing the Imja Khola, following the many Mani stone walls laden out in the fields carved with prayers. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Pangboche, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

 

Day 12: Pangboche (3,860m) – Monjo (2,835m)

With a steady descend through the woodlands of pine and oak, you will make your way past Namche and Tengboche to reach Monjo. The trek back is filled with pristine natural woods of the national park. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Monjo, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

 

Day 13: Monjo (2,835m) – Lukla (2,840m)

Exiting the Sagarmatha National Park, you will once again traverse along the same trekking trail that goes over the Dudh Koshi River to reach Lukla. Overnight stay at the guesthouse at Lukla, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

 

Day 14: Lukla – Kathmandu (1,300m)

Early in the morning, you will bid the Everest peaks goodbye and catch your flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be transferred back to your Hotel. Overnight say at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

 

Day 15: Kathmandu (1,350m)

This is a free day in Kathmandu, which also acts as a buffer day in case of any delays in the Lukla flight. You can spend the day as you please, exploring the city and shopping for souvenirs. You can also enjoy many different cuisines in the restaurants as well. Overnight say at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

 

Day 16: Kathmandu – Onward Destination

You will be dropped off at the airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight, from where you will depart.
