The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra spans 14 days and it takes you around the holy Mount Kailash. This trip will prove to be an eye-opening for those who are in a desperate need for knowledge and wisdom. This Yatra starts from Nepal and it will lead you to the much desolate land of Tibet that is flocked with many small monasteries and jaw-dropping view of the Himalayas. From a cultural awakening at the monasteries in Zuthulphuk to a natural awakening at the sight of the Mansarovar Lake, this 14 days Yatra is a one to be a part of.

The Yatra takes 14 days to complete and the first day is the day you arrive at Kathmandu. The company helps to prepare necessary documents to enter Tibet and while the documents get ready, you discover the grandeur of Kathmandu city first-handed. The places you visit are Swayambhunath Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square, which are also UNESCO heritage sites. The next day you head to the border of Nepal and Tibet, and show immigration papers at Kodari. From there, you meet your Tibetan guide and head to Nyalam for an overnight stay. Spend a day in Nyalam and do admire the Paiko Tso Lake. The next stop is Saga and en route you have to cross the Lalung La Pass (5,050m), one of the highest passes of Tibet. From there, you go to Lake Manasarovar via Paryang and you explore the unique Paryang Desert for a while. At Manasarovar, you take a holy bath and prepare yourself to do the Kailash Parikrama. The first stop of this holy circuit is Darchen and from there, you trek to Dirapuk. You continue to trek to Zutulpuk Gompa. Before you reach the final destination, you cross the last highest pass of the trip, Domla La Pass (5,200m). You’ll even get to see the Yamasthal, Shivasthal and the majestic Gauri Kund. At the pass, give your offerings and descend to Zutulpuk. After exploring the Milarepa caves, you head to Mansarovar. Immerse yourself in the holy waters of the lake and head out to Saga. Spend a night in this quiet countryside and head out to the border town of Nyalam. From here, you can catch a picturesque sight of mountains like Langtang, Everest, and Gaurishankar. After fulfilling the legal formalities, you will enter Nepal via Kodari and then you’ll enter get back to Kathmandu via the Araniko highway where the trip will end.

Itinerary Summary

Day Day 1: Kathmandu Arrival pickup from the international airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.

You arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu where our company’s staffs and representative warmly welcome you. Then, you go to the hotel and refresh. At dinner, the representative will brief you about the details of the trip. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Since you'll be going to Tibet, you need the proper documents and visa to enter the country. Our company's staff will help you with the preparation of visa. After the work is concluded, you have a short sightseeing tour to Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. If there is extra time left, the tour can be extended to a visit to the Patan Durbar Square. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Early morning, you have breakfast and head to the borders of Nepal-Tibet, which takes about 5 hrs. At the border, you stop at Kodari and have lunch before processing all the immigration documents to enter Tibet. Then from Kodari, you meet your Tibetan guide who will accompany while you’re in Tibet and head to Nyalam, which takes 6-7 hours of drive. Overnight in Nyalam.
Since you are going to higher elevations, this day is separated for you to acclimatize. You complete the hike to nearby hills to see scenic views of Langtang and the neighboring peaks. With the hike, you can make yourself familiar with the altitudes. You also visit the famous Paiko Cu Lake while you return back to town. Before dinner, you visit the Zhangmu Treaty Point. Overnight in Nyalam.
Today, after breakfast, you head to the rocky terrains of Tibet and encounter sandy dunes at some point. You cross one of the highest passes, Lalung La Pass (5,050m) and from that point, you can see amazing views of Langtang, Gaurishankar and Shishapangma peaks. Then you cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) River to reach Saga. Saga is famous for the Ratna Chuli Mountain and the amazing Dago La pass as well. Overnight stay at Saga.
Today’s destination is Manasarovar, and you drive after having breakfast. Today, you pass by yaks and yak herders all throughout the road. Before you reach Paryang, you stop at Paryang Desert to experience the desert environment. At Paryang, you rest and have lunch and head for Lake Manasarovar. Once you reach Lake Manasarovar, you can see the majestic Mt. Kailash and Mt. Gurla Mandala in the backdrop of the lake. Overnight in Lake Mansarovar.
Early morning, you prepare to take a bath in the lake and if you want, the guide can arrange for you to do pujas as well. After that, you have your breakfast and continue the journey around the holy area i.e. Kailash Parikrama. En route, you stop at Chui Gompa and visit the holy place. Then you reach today’s destination, Darchen. This village sits at the base of Mount Kailash and sees heavy traffic during the month of Kora festival. There are small hostels and lodges built here. Overnight in Darchen.
Today, you have your breakfast and drive to the starting point of Kailash Parikrama, Tarboche. From there on your trekking starts. The trail goes along steep cliffs and you can get an eagle-eye view of the beautiful Tibetan landscape. At some parts, you can see glimpses of Mt. Kailash (north face). You also come across a beautiful waterfall. There is a beautiful monastery in Dirapuk which is worth a visit. Overnight in Dirapuk.
After breakfast, you head to the first stop of this trail i.e. Domla La Pass (5,200m). It is one of the many passes which you encounter on this trip. En route, you cross Yamasthal and Shivasthal. Once you reach the pass, enjoy the views of Gauri Kund and the surrounding area. You do offerings, pujas, and even meditations, if you want, at the pass. Then you descend to Zutulpuk Gompa. You can even see monks living in its silent corners and practicing the divine art of Buddhism. Overnight in Zutulpuk.
After breakfast, you explore the surrounding area of Zutulpuk. This area is famous for its magical caves, the Milarepa Caves. You also visit the nearby temples and give offerings. After the sightseeing is finished, you trek back to Darchen from where you started the trek. At Darchen, you have your lunch and drive back to Lake Manasarovar. Overnight in Mansarovar.
You have completed your trek and now it’s time to head back. In the morning, you will take part in the puja and bathe in the holy water of the lake. After breakfast, you hit the road that leads to Saga. En route, enjoy the scenic landscapes with yaks and herders. You stop at Paryang for lunch and continue to drive. Once you reach Saga, you transfer to lodge and refresh. You can explore the town frequented by pilgrims and enjoy the market area, as there are many shops and restaurants. Overnight in Saga.
You head back to the border of Nepal-Tibet today. You drive to Nyalam after having breakfast. Enjoy the barren terrain and occasional settlements you see en route. You can see magnificent glimpses of Shishapangma, Langtang, and Gaurishankar while you are on road. You head to the lodge once you reach Nyalam. Before dinner, you have free time so you can explore the town. Overnight in Nyalam.
Today is your last day in Tibet. You have a Tibetan style breakfast and hit the road for the last time on this trip. At Kodari, you have lunch and prepare the immigration documents. Then you part with your Tibetan guide and bid farewell. You return to Kathmandu via the Araniko Highway. If you have time, you can do the shopping and then join the company staffs for farewell dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.
