Annapurna Circuit Trek Brief Insight

Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most adventurous trekking destinations perfect for dramatic views of the Himalayas. The wilderness of lush vegetation and natural flora and fauna of this region is simply marvelous.

Along with a stunning view of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna III (7555m), Chulu Peak (6584m), Manaslu (8163m), and Dhaulagiri range, you’ll get an opportunity to observe the unique culture and tradition of Tibetan and Gurung communities. The trek even enters the southern realm beneath the Annapurna Himalayas and heads to the Poonhill viewpoint.

After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you’ll be immediately transferred to your respective hotel. The second day is scheduled for sightseeing and trek preparation.

On this day, you gather your essentials for the trek and also explore the UNESCO world heritage sites in the valley. On the 3rd day, you’ll take a scenic drive to Syange from Kathmandu.

Along the way, you’ll cross small towns of Dumre and Besisahar. The trail passes through the settlement of Jagat and proceeds towards Dharapani. Similarly, crossing the settlement of Chame, Pisang, Manang, and Yak Kharka, you’ll take a steep climb to the top of the ridge which finally leads the way towards Thorang La High Camp. From here, you’ll continue your journey towards Thorang La Pass (5416m), one of the biggest passes in Nepal.

The pass offers panoramic views of the mountains in the Annapurna, Nilgiri, and Muktinath Himal ranges. Descending along the rocky trail, you arrive at the Muktinath Temple, a revered pilgrimage site among Hindu and Buddhists.

Moving forward, you’ll now trek towards Tatopani via Marpha and Kalopani. You’ll now descend to Ghorepani and hike to Poon Hill where beautiful sunrise views over the Annapurna massif and Machhapuchhre (6993m) grace the skyline. Finally, you’ll drive back to Pokhara via Nayapul. Autumn and spring are the best seasons for Annapurna Circuit Trek.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel | (1300 m)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be greeted by one of our staff members and immediately transferred to your respective hotel. You can explore the city or do some shopping in preparation for the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and trek preparation

Today is scheduled for sightseeing and trek preparation. Soon after breakfast, you’ll get ready for sightseeing around the valley. A local guide will take you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening, you will meet with a staff member to discuss the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Syange via Besisahar | (1140 m, 06 hrs)

After breakfast, you’ll be driving towards Syange from Kathmandu. Crossing beautiful town of Dumre, you’ll march north towards Besisahar along the Trishuli River. After a quick lunch in Besisahar, you’ll continue your journey passing through the green forest, terraced farmlands and plain valleys. Driving past the villages of Bhulbhule and Ngadi, you’ll finally reach Syange following the Marsayangdi River. Overnight in Syange.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani | (1943 m, 06 hrs)

From Syange, you’ll slowly ascend towards the village of Chamje via Jagat crossing few suspension bridges and beautiful waterfalls. Along with a sublime view of Manaslu (8163m) and Annapurna Range in the background, you’ll continue your walk through the forest of pine and rhododendron before reaching Tal. Finally, after about six hours of a pleasant walk along with nature, you’ll reach Dharapani. Overnight in Dharapani.

Day 05: Trek to Chame | (2720 m, 05 hrs)

Early in the morning, you’ll start your trek uphill towards the settlement of Chame. The trail passes through Bagarchhap and proceeds towards Danakyu. From here, you’ll walk through the green forest of pine and blooming rhododendron, several Tamang villages, and sloppy landscapes. Finally, crossing the small settlement of Koto, you’ll reach your destination enjoying a close-up view of Mt. Manaslu (8163m). Overnight in Chame.

Day 06: Trek to Pisang | (3190m, 05 hrs)

Today, you’ll be trekking towards Pisang village. Along with Marsayangdi River, you’ll walk past small hamlets, several rivers and forested area of juniper and pine to reach Bhratang. Once at Bhratang, you’ll ascend towards Dhikur Pokhari along with a sublime view of Chulu (6584m), Annapurna Range, Manaslu (8163m), and Pisang Peak (6091m). Finally, you’ll reach the lower Pisang after about five hours of walk. Overnight in Lower Pisang.

Day 07: Trek to Manang | (3540 m, 04 hrs)

The trek to Manang is quite adventurous. Soon after breakfast, you’ll ascend gradually crossing the large alpine forest of pine trees. A steep climb to the top of the ridge takes you to a flat valley and then to Hongde village. From here, the trail proceeds towards Munchi. We recommend you visit the Braga Monastery there to become familiar with the ancient Buddhist culture of this region. You’ll reach Manang for a stunning view of the Annapurna Range.

Day 08: Rest day at Manang for acclimatization with short hikes.

Resting at Manang on the 8th day of your trek will help you adapt to the high altitude. After breakfast, you can take a short hike to the top of the ridge to enjoy a sublime view of Gangapurna Glacier. The lake vicinity also offers great views of the nearby Himalayas in Annapurna and Nilgiri ranges. In the evening, you can roam around the local market, try local foods, interact with people, and get familiar with their unique culture and tradition. Overnight in Manang.

Day 09: Trek to Yak Kharka | (4210 m, 04 hrs)

Leaving Manang behind, you’ll continue your journey towards Yak Kharka. As we move forward, you’ll get a distant view of Yaks grazing on the farmlands. Crossing small streams and few suspension bridges, you’ll reach the village of Ghunsang where you’ll stop for lunch. After about four hours of walking uphill, you’ll finally reach Yak Kharka. From here, you’ll get a glorious view of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna III (7555m), and Chulu Peak (6584m). Overnight in Yak Kharka.

Day 10: Trek to Thorang- La High Camp or Phedi | (4450m, 04 hrs)

After breakfast, you’ll start your trek towards Thorang Phedi. A steep walk to the top of the ridge takes you to a flat valley. From here, you’ll walk past lush pasturelands along the bank of Jamrung Khola. You’ll reach Thorang Phedi crossing few suspension bridges and waterfalls. With the Himalayas guiding us along the trek, we make a gradual ascent to the High Camp.

Day 11: Trek over Thorang La (5,416m) to Muktinath | (3800 m, 06 hrs)

On the 11th day, the trail continues towards the holy temple of Muktinath. After a steep climb to the top of a ridge for an hour, you reach Thorang La (5416m). Once at the top, you can see Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri Mountain Ranges along with Annapurna looming in the distance. From here, walking past the narrow stone paths, you’ll move towards Muktinath. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Lord Vishnu and boasts 108 water sprouts within the temple premise. Overnight in Muktinath.

Day 12: Trek to Marpha via Jomsom | (2670 m, 06 hrs)

Walking along Kali Gandaki River, you’ll now descend towards Jomsom passing through the forests of pine and juniper. Once at Jomsom, you’ll stop for a quick lunch. From here, walking along the windy path crossing few farm villages and the steep landscape is pretty adventurous. After about six hours of walk, you’ll reach the settlement of Marpha. Marpha is famous for apple and apple-derived products. Overnight in Marpha.

Day 13: Trek to Kalopani or Lete | (2400 m, 06 hrs)

Leaving Marpha behind, you’ll continue your trek downhill towards Kalopani. The trail passes through the settlement of Tukuche and proceeds towards Dhampu. You’ll reach Kalopani relishing the views of the mountains in Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri ranges along the way. Once at Kalopani, you can visit the Thakali Museum that showcases the unique culture and tradition of Thakali people. Overnight in Kalopani.

Day 14: Trek to Tatopani (hot-spring) | (1190 m, 06 hrs)

The landscape changes and becomes more green and lush descending down to Tatopani from Kalopani. This downhill walk along the Kali Gandaki River goes past lush hills and forest of rhododendron and pine trees. Once at Tatopani, visit the hot-spring area is a must as it is believed that the water in these natural springs will help you get rid of skin diseases. Overnight in Tatopani.

Day 15: Trek to Ghorepani | (2860 m, 06 hrs)

After breakfast, you’ll continue your trek towards Ghorepani. You’ll walk through the forested trail until you reach the settlement of Sikha where you’ll stop for a quick lunch. From here, a quick ascent to the top of the ridge takes you to the village of Phalate. You’ll reach Ghorepani a little more tired than other days because the trail today goes uphill and downhill in a number of occasions. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 16: Hike to Poon Hill and continue trek to Tikhedhunga | (1440 m, 07 hrs)

Today, you’ll first take a short hike to Poon Hill from where you’ll get a glorious view of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna III (7555m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Dhaulagiri ranges. The vantage point is said to offer some of the most exquisite views of the Annapurna massif. With a content heart, you’ll return to Ghorepani and continue your trek alongside Rhododendron forest towards Tikhedhunga. The trek is almost entirely downhill and settles follows the Bhurungdi River for most parts. Overnight in Tikhedhunga.

Day 17: Trek to Nayapul (1010 m, 04 hrs) and drive to Pokhara (860 m, 02 hrs)

From Tikhedhunga, you’ll cross Birethanti to reach Nayapul. It is a four hours walk downhill through the forested area, Gurung villages, and beautiful landscapes. Once at Nayapul, you’ll drive back to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. You can roam around Phewa Lake and explore the Lakeside in the evening. The City of Lakes is an outstanding destination for tour and leisure holidays. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 18: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu

After breakfast, you’ll take a short flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. It is a scenic flight of 30 minutes that offers final glimpses of the Himalayas in Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. Alternatively, you can also choose to drive to Kathmandu retracing your way along the Prithvi Highway. Once at Kathmandu, you can utilize your leisure time by roaming around the Thamel area. You can also buy a souvenir and enjoy its nightlife. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Departure, homeward bound

Today is your last day in Nepal. We’ll drop you off three hours prior to your scheduled flight in Tribhuvan International Airport. Thank you for traveling with us. We hope to join you on other trips in Nepal.

    star rating  一场如期而至的旅行,一次人间天堂的盛宴 - 缘起:很偶然的一个机会,那应该是在2012年,通过电视媒体、旅游纪录片知道了尼泊尔这样一个幸福国度的存在,之所以幸福,是因为一个以佛为信仰的国度,人民的幸福感始终是最强的。其中看到了在珠峰大本营徒步路线中为旅客背负行李的背夫,那一刻甚是让我感动,同时也对大自然的鬼斧神工、美丽的尼泊尔风情所迷恋,自此以后,在我心中就一直萌生了一个想法,那就是我一定要去尼泊尔走走,去看看这个佛的国度,这个人间的天堂。
    计划:一转眼到了2017年,一个不经意的午后,大家聊着去哪玩的时候,我突然想起了五年前自己的那个想法,就是去尼泊尔徒步。这个想法一经提出,大家都非常感兴趣,于是我们将去尼泊尔的计划提上日程,开始反复讨论走什么路线,什么时候去,攻略怎样做?等等,诸如此类的问题,经过大半个月的讨论,我们一致决定走最负盛名的EBC珠峰大本营徒步路线。
    出发:对于这次出行,我们其实并没有什么经验,连低海拔地区的徒步经验都没有,更何况我们要去尼泊尔走EBC徒步路线,我们在相关论坛上发布了我们的计划之后,很多前辈都劝我们不要冒险,EBC虽然美丽,但是也充满了危险,于是我们很纠结,要不要去?向导怎么找?但对尼泊尔的向往,始终没有阻止我们的脚步,2017年5月28日,我们搭乘南方航空广州至加德满都的直飞航班出发了。
    初遇尼泊尔:带着好奇和满怀憧憬的期待,2017年5月28日下午我们抵达了尼泊尔的首都加德满都机场,之前在国内已经预定好了加德满都玛亚庄园酒店(Maya Manor Boutique Hotel Kathmandu),抵达机场后,酒店派了车去机场接迎接我们。第一次来到尼泊尔,汽车在公路上行驶着,路上汽车、行人、摩托车、牛都一起出现了公路上,这一刻,确实是让我们感到了吃惊,后来才知道,牛在尼泊尔中是神圣的,所以才会出现车和牛一起出现在公路上的情景。
    马亚酒店的初识:抵达酒店,我们询问了酒店的工作人员关于EBC旅行向导的一些事情,因为存在语言的差异,沟通起来稍有些不便,幸运的是,酒店的工作人员告诉我们,有一位中国女孩现在就在酒店工作,我们立即联系了她,她就是后来我们新认识的来自中国杭州的廉同学,廉同学一直在尼泊尔从事汉语教学的工作,帮助更多希望学习中文的尼泊尔人学习汉语。和廉同学联系上了之后,她正式像我们推荐了大卫(David)以及他的伙伴阿龙,很快我们和大卫还有阿龙在马亚酒店见面了,大卫的中文讲的很好,初次见面,我们就被大卫的热情所感动了,他非常细心的给我们介绍在尼泊尔旅行以及EBC徒步线路的一些事项,我们和大卫一起在马亚酒店吃了晚餐,制定好行程之后,我们将在第二天也就是5月29日正式从加德满都机场飞往EBC徒步的起点卢卡拉机场。
    向EBC出发:天气没有让我们失望,来尼泊尔之前,常常说此时是尼泊尔的雨季,可能天气会经常下雨,但是当我们从尼泊尔首都加德满都起飞时,天气确出奇的好,第一次坐上了传说中的小飞机,那是非常的兴奋,大概经过了一段时间,飞机很快的就降落在了海拔2700米的卢卡拉机场,说到这里,不得不提一下卢卡拉机场,卢卡拉机场(lukla Airport)位于尼泊尔东部卢卡拉(Lukla)镇,位列世界十大危险机场排名第一位,冠有“世界屋脊上的跑道”称号。机场是连接加德满都和卢卡拉的唯一通道,卢卡拉(丹增-希拉里)机场机场始建于1964年,登顶珠穆朗玛峰第一人埃德蒙·希拉里(Edmund Hillary)骑士自行集资兴建的。埃德蒙·希拉里骑士为了帮助登山者更快进入珠穆朗玛峰,同时回报当地的居民,改善当地的交通状况,兴建了卢卡拉机场。第一乘坐这样的飞机,让我们感到非常的刺激。
    踏上EBC:大卫帮我们制定了详细的EBC徒步线路,包括每天的具体行程,应该注意的事项,以及沿途需要停靠休息的点,因为我们是第一次在高海拔活动,所以有必要在不同海拔高度的地方停顿修整,以让身体来逐渐适应高海拔环境。我们从卢卡拉出发,一路经过Monjo/蒙佐、Namche/南池、Tengboche/腾波切、Dingboche/丁波切、Lobuche (4940m)/罗波切、Gorak Shep/格拉克舍普、Pheriche/佩里切等地方。其中我们在Namche/南池修整了一天,第二天一早我们起的很早,看到了火烧云的壮丽景观。随着海拔的不断上升,我们一路从茂密的植被区走到荒无人烟,没有一点绿色植物的高海拔地区,我们看到了安拉普尔那雪上,见识了尼泊尔高原地区最蓝的天空,晚上也看到了最迷人的星空,这些都是我们如今生活在大成里不曾见到过了,在那里,时间仿佛静止,一切的人间糟杂似乎都已经远去,那种状态,是空灵、是自身心灵的一种净化。最终我们在大卫的带领下来到了期盼已久的珠峰大本营,第一次零距离接触到了昆布冰川,那种感受无法形容,在感叹大自然神奇的同时,也对跨越昆布冰川也被称为死亡冰川像珠峰前进的珠峰攀登者们报以最诚挚的致敬,他们勇敢的挑战珠峰,尤其是夏尔巴向导们,他们就是珠峰的开路者。从珠峰返回后,我们又经过了三天的时间下撤到卢卡拉机场,然后从卢卡拉机场乘坐飞机返回加德满都.EBC的路途虽然辛苦,但是却是我一辈子都无法忘记的,我们走了大多数人可能这一辈子都不会走的线路,无憾。
    写在最后:这一路的艰辛很多,给了我们莫大帮助的大卫和阿龙也成了我们的好朋友,尼泊尔永远不会是只去一次,因为时间有限,尼泊尔还有更多值得去的地方,在等待着我们,例如,冬天的尼泊尔,ACT大环线、博卡拉,这些都是令我们憧憬的,最后,非常感谢我们认识了大卫,他像一位大哥一样,总是能够给你想到你所需要的,大卫,我们下次再会!尼泊尔,我们下次再会!... read more
